A major expansion to Great Western Hospital's Emergency Department has been unveiled to the public.Besides an increase in adult treatment facilities, the expansion means a new Children's Emergency Unit has also been established.
The department has had seven more major cubicles added, bringing the number to 22 and three new resuscitation cubicles, for patients in critical or life-threatening conditions, have also been built. Jeremy Auckland-Lewis is the director of the trust's Way Forward programme, responsible for managing projects, including this expansion.
"Our processes can therefore be slow and inefficient and it's not a very comfortable space for the patients to wait.
