Patients with planned appointments were asked not to go to Great Western Hospital in Swindon on Tuesday.
A power cut led to disruption at Swindon's hospital, including at A&E and the urgent treatment centre.
Health leaders at Great Western Hospital asked patients with planned appointments not to attend due to it not being possible to operate machinery such as MRI scanners and x-ray equipment at about 15:00 BST on Tuesday. Power was restored by about 20:30 but health officials have warned patients to expect urgent and emergency care services to be very busy in the coming days
A hospital spokesperson said patients are advised to attend appointments as planned on Wednesday "unless contacted and told otherwise".
