Dominic Niosi, 44, pleaded no contest to statutory rape charges after initially facing multiple accusations, including child molestation, child abuse, and drug offenses. The plea deal resulted in probation, a fine, and time already served in jail.

A Grass Valley man has avoided more serious charges after pleading no contest to statutory rape of a teenager he met online. Dominic Niosi, 44, faced multiple charges last year, including child molestation, child abuse, receiving lewd pictures from the victim, and providing cocaine and methamphetamine to the teen. However, instead of facing these charges, Niosi pleaded no contest to a single statutory rape charge.

He was subsequently sentenced to two years probation, a fine ranging from $300 to $10,000, and time already served in jail. Court records indicate that the plea deal was finalized in December. Prosecutors stated at Niosi's change of plea hearing that the victim was informed and consented to the plea agreement. Niosi's arrest last year stemmed from an encounter on June 20, 2024, where police allege he met the teenager in person and strangled them to unconsciousness. The victim later reported the incident to police, who were able to identify Niosi through electronic records and evidence.
