Dominic Niosi, 44, of Grass Valley, was sentenced to probation after pleading no contest to statutory rape charges involving a teenager he met online. Initial charges included child molestation, abuse, and drug distribution, but a plea deal resulted in a lesser sentence.

A Grass Valley man, Dominic Niosi, 44, was released from jail and placed on probation after pleading no contest to statutory rape charges stemming from a relationship with a teenager he met online. Initial charges against Niosi included child molestation, child abuse , and possession of lewd images from the victim. He was also accused of providing cocaine and methamphetamine to the teen. However, he ultimately pleaded guilty to a single count of statutory rape .

In December, a plea deal was finalized, resulting in a two-year probation sentence, a fine ranging from $300 to $10,000, and time already served in jail. Prosecutors stated during Niosi's plea hearing that the victim was aware of and consented to the plea agreement. Niosi's arrest last year followed an encounter with the teenage victim on June 20, 2024, during which police alleged that Niosi strangled the victim to the point of unconsciousness. The victim subsequently reported the incident to authorities, who identified Niosi through electronic records.
