Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) is expanding its T.33 lineup with a new track-focused variant, the T.33 S. Retaining the iconic 3.9-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine, the T.33 S promises enhanced performance and handling for drivers seeking a more exhilarating experience on the track.
The supercar will retain Cosworth's glorious naturally-aspirated 3.9-liter V12. A 6-speed manual transmission will be the only option for the T.33 S. Gordon Murray has confirmed that a third variant of the T.33 supercar is in the works and is set to be sold alongside the standard Coupe and Spider models. The T.33 S will be slightly more track-focused but remain street-legal. Like the other models in the T.33 family, the T33 S will be underpinned by a carbon-aluminum monocoque.
It’ll also retain Cosworth's 3.9-liter naturally-aspirated V12, which is a derivative of the V12 used in the T.50. In standard guise, this engine is good for 609 hp and 333 lb-ft (451 Nm) of torque, but it’s possible those figures to get a slight boost for the T33 S. Murray told Autocar that the T33 S will be launched “next summer,” describing it as “tougher and more focused,” than the standard model. He added the S will offer more downforce and “much more focused suspension settings,” and that it will be a “road car but it’s more track-oriented.” As the model will not be a track-only special like the T.50 S, it probably won’t have such a radical aero kit. Possible changes could include a new front splitter, side skirts, and perhaps a fixed rear wing – although we think a wing might interrupt some of the car’s lovely simple lines. Murray did not say if the T.33 S would be lighter than the regular T.33. The company’s boss also didn’t confirm how many units will be built, but it could be fewer than the 100 Coupes and 100 Spiders heading for the production line. If the screaming V12 in combination with rear-wheel drive and the lightweight structure isn't special enough, then the fact that the T.33 is a 6-speed manual-only supercar should do the trick. The small company initially planned to offer a paddle-shift automatic option but ditched that idea after just three or four people ordered it over the stick shifter
