Google is testing a new animated loading screen for its AI Overviews feature, sporting a fresh blue and green hue reminiscent of the company's Gemini AI model. The loading screen includes phrases like 'Working on this' and 'Putting it all together,' adding a more dynamic feel. AI Overviews, launched earlier this year, aims to revolutionize the traditional Google Search experience by providing concise summaries of search results, making information more accessible.
While initially available in select countries, AI Overviews has now expanded its reach globally. This animated loading page, however, is currently in testing and not yet visible to all users. Google's AI journey began in late 2022 with a renewed emphasis on integrating AI into its products and services. This led to the creation of the Bard chatbot, later renamed Gemini, in early 2023. Designed as a powerful language model, Gemini can understand and generate human-like text. AI Overviews followed, offering an alternative search method with AI-generated summaries of search results. Though initially plagued by some issues, Google swiftly addressed them, enhancing the overall user experience. This latest update with the Gemini-style animation might hint at Google's plans to integrate Gemini 2.0 into AI Overviews. Google previously mentioned limited testing of Gemini 2.0 within AI Overviews, indicating that the company is actively working on advancing its AI capabilities. Gemini 2.0 promises even more sophisticated language processing and understanding, potentially resulting in more accurate and informative search summaries. Whether this new animation becomes a permanent feature remains to be seen, but it clearly showcases Google's continuous efforts to refine its AI offerings
