Golden Arrows has announced the signing of defender Divine Lunga from Mamelodi Sundownspreviously reported by KickOff, the Zimbabwean international returns to Arrows on a season-long loan deal as Sundowns look to make space to register more international arrivalsLunga joined Arrows in 2018 and was snapped up by the league champions last year following a string of solid performances for the Durban outfit.
However, with Sundowns having already reached the maximum number of foreign players they can register, the club has to make more slots available. Sundowns already have Gaston Sirino, Peter Shalulile, Pavol Safranko, Divine Lunga and Erwin Saavedra. Lunga's deal to Arrows then frees up a new spot for another foreign player.For Arrows, the move is understood to be a welcome one with the left-back having been a key player for the side during his first stint. Lunga landed in Durban yesterday afternoon to join up with his teammates.
At Sundowns, Ethiopian attacker Abubeker Nasir returns from his loan spell while Chilean attacking midfielder Marcelo Allende and Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil are expected to be registered by the league defending champions before the transfer window closes on 22 September. Sundowns will begin their league defence on Friday, 5 August against last season's league runners-up Cape Town City, while Golden Arrows will host league newcomers Richards Bay at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
