Santa Monica Studio is making a DLC expansion for the most recent God Of War but while it’s more than half done it won’t be out this year.
), which surprised no one. But supposedly he’s already deep in development of an expansion – although it’s unknown whether it will be a standalone release or not.
Fellow Sony studio Naughty Dog has released both in-game expansions and standalone releases for its game but with God Of War it likely depends on what the purpose of the DLC story is. If it’s to create a bridge to a new setting then a standalone release makes the most sense. Santa Monica Studio has previously said that Ragnarök is the end of the Norse series of games and while there are no clear hints as to where a future game would be set there are lots of obvious options, with Egypt being one particular fan favourite.for someone that had knowledge of both of the previous God Of War games.
At the time, this was assumed to be an indication that work had begun on a new sequel, but it only makes more sense in the context of DLC.
