Glenville relied on its defense and got big contributions from three freshman to beat Upper Arlington on Friday night.
Published: Aug. 23, 2024, 11:08 p.m.UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio — Glenville coach Ted Ginn Sr. knew he had a young team to start the season. But he couldn’t predict that three freshmen were going to play a big role in his team’s 6-0 win at Upper Arlington on Friday night.
“We knew these kids could play. I didn’t expect all that, but they’ve been playing well for years,” Ginn said. “We’ve known them for all their life. They grew up in the community and we knew that they were pretty good. I never would have expected them to take over the game.” Edwards caught the punt at the Upper Arlington 31, and he angled towards his right and dashed into the end zone.
“I thought they were gonna call it back. But it ended up being a touchdown,” Edwards said. “We’ve all been playing together since we were younger. We knew once we got here, we were gonna prove we should be on the field, young and early.” “We knew that, so we made sure that we tried to keep them from the 35. We had a good bead on them. But they still played tough, and we’re still young and inexperienced. I’m just proud of the defense.”
