Glenn Close and daughter Annie Starke perfectly recreated the actress’ throwback pregnancy photo from 1988
“This #internationalwomensday hits a bit different this year,” Starke, 36, captioned an Instagram post on Saturday, March 8, showing off throwback photos of her baby bump. The first image showed a black-and-white photo of Starke cradling her stomach.
Subsequent images featured her mom, Close, 77. “Swipe for a recreation of a classic family pic,” Starke’s caption also read. “My grandma, @glennclose & me in the womb … now grandma ‘Gi,’ me & Rory in the womb. Aggressive couch fabric patterns included.” Both then-and-now images were snapped on a floral print couch. The first, seemingly snapped in 1988, showed Close when she was pregnant with Starke as her mother looked on. In the more recent photo, Starke posed with her belly out as Close sat next to her and lovingly looked on. Starke — who is Close’s only child — has followed in her mom’s acting footsteps, appearing in several movies and TV shows over the years. Most recently, she appeared as Lily Cartwright in Netflix’s Ratched. Close became a grandmother earlier this year when Starke and husband Marc Albu welcomed a son, Rory Westaway, on February 7. “We’ll never be the same,” Starke captioned an Instagram post last month when announcing his birth. “We love you so much, sweet boy.” Starke married Albu in June 2018 at her childhood home in Bedford Hills, New York — a farmhouse estate called Beanfield — two years after he proposed. 'We knew right away that we'd love to get married at Beanfield,' Starke told Brides at the time. 'Beanfield has been incredibly special to both of us, my parents, and our many family friends throughout the years. It's a communal home-base for our beloved masses, so to speak, and we couldn't imagine our wedding taking place anywhere else.' She added, 'We didn't want anything fussy — just simple, country-inspired chic, with an emphasis on the June season.' Starke previously spoke about growing up in Bedford Hills, and how it allowed her to have a “profoundly normal childhood” despite her Oscar-nominated mother’s fame. “I’m a little boring. I was a barefoot kid, outdoorsy, never had siblings, but I had cats and dogs, and really surrounded by nature,” she told People in 2018. “I credit my parents for keeping me grounded and keeping it normal. I still have my oldest friends since high school. It was a wonderful place to grow up.”
