Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani must face a trial to determine whether he will forfeit his Florida condominium and three World Series rings to satisfy a $148 million defamation judgment awarded to two former Georgia election workers.

Rudy Giuliani's legal battles continue as he faces a trial to determine whether he must forfeit valuable assets to satisfy a $148 million defamation judgment. The former New York City mayor, who served as personal attorney to President-elect Donald Trump, was found liable for defamation by two former Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea 'Shaye' Moss.

Giuliani's absence from a scheduled Thursday morning trial in a Manhattan federal court delayed the proceedings until at least Thursday afternoon. The trial, without a jury, aims to decide whether Giuliani must hand over assets, including his Florida condominium and three World Series rings, to Freeman and Moss. Judge Lewis J Liman, who presided over the case, previously found Giuliani in contempt for failing to disclose information about some of his assets. As a consequence, Giuliani was barred from presenting certain evidence. This latest legal hurdle comes on the heels of another contempt finding against Giuliani in Washington, D.C., where he was accused of repeatedly spreading false claims about the 2020 election. During the delay in the Manhattan trial, Giuliani posted a video on social media featuring a dog named Vinny at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, seemingly hinting at his continued support for the former president. Giuliani maintains that he is not impoverished but lacks access to most of his remaining assets, citing restrictions on his bank accounts and Social Security benefits. Lawyers representing Freeman and Moss argue that Giuliani's bankruptcy filing in December 2023, which was later dismissed, revealed inconsistencies in his financial reporting. They contend that Giuliani listed the Manhattan apartment as his residence and the rings as his property in the bankruptcy filing
