For those who believe that the Girl Scouts’ Thin Mints are the best cookies, there is no better time than when the annual cookie drive begins. But the normal post-holiday season tradition of buying up as many boxes of cookies as possible is expected to be delayed in 2023.
The yearly fundraiser, which is the primary source of income for many Girl Scouts troops, is under strain from supply chain issues, according to the“The Girl Scout cookies are coming, they just might [take] a little longer than folks are used to,” Bri Seoane, CEO of Girls Scouts of Northern California, told the newspaper.
While the organization normally starts its cookie drive in late January or early February, 2023’s drive likely won’t start until March. Seoane said this is to avoid any interruption in production. It would be more detrimental to start the drive, be forced to stop, and then restart again, than to delay the start by a few months.Little Brownie Baker, the cookie manufacturer for Girl Scouts of Northern California, is owned by Keebler, a Ferrero Group subsidiary.
