Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther fell on the sword Saturday, taking responsibility for having told city residents that none of their personal information was compromised during the massive ransomware attack that still has his office reeling.
"I want to share in the mayor's anger and frustration that these criminals are taking advantage of the people we serve," he said, adding that among the victims whose personal information was released are survivors of crime and abuse. " that are maybe trying to escape an abuser, that are trying to escape a situation that might be violent for them," he said. "If you're currently in a situation that is imminently dangerous, call police ... I take our work in protecting victims very, very seriously. They are the most important people that we protect, and I will never waiver from that."
