The New York Giants have lost their 10th consecutive game, marking a franchise low. Former running back Tiki Barber criticizes coach Brian Daboll's decision to start quarterback Drew Lock, citing Lock's recurring mistakes.
The Giants suffered their 10th straight loss for the first time in franchise history on Sunday, a new low for a team that has spent the entire season spiraling. Drew Lock had a rough day at quarterback, throwing two pick sixes in the 34-7 loss. Speaking on WFAN this week, former Giants running back Tiki Barber expressed his frustration with head coach Brian Daboll ’s decision to start and stick with Lock.
“I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t trust that decisions are being made in the interest of winning,” Barber said. “I’m not saying they’re tanking, but I told you months ago who Drew Lock was...there are moments where he’s gonna make terrible, game-changing decisions. I’ve seen it since he was a rookie. “I found myself saying, forget giving you the best chance to win. Playing Drew Lock almost ensures that you’re going to lose, because he’s going to do this constantly.” Lock sat out of the Week 15 loss to the Ravens with heel and elbow injuries. Tommy DeVito started that game under center and suffered a concussion, but was cleared to serve as backup against the Falcons. Daboll said on Monday that Lock is having an MRI on his right shoulder after hurting it in Sunday’s loss. Lock has appeared in six games (three starts) this season and is 68-of-129 for 624 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. The Giants are 2-13 — the NFL’s only two-win team — and they will finish their season with games against the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles. If the Giants lose out, they will have the No. 1 pick for the third time ever. (They also had it in 1951 and 1965.) That would let them draft their preferred next quarterback — whether that’s Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward or (less likely) someone else.
