John Harbaugh does not yet have an offensive coordinator for his first Giants coaching staff but that has not stopped him from adding offensive assistants.
He is expected to hire Grant Newsome as an assistant offensive line coach, The Post confirmed, and Harbaugh can thank his younger brother Jim for the recommendation.Newsome, 28, played offensive line for two years for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan before a serious knee injury in 2016 ended his playing career.
Harbaugh saw something in Newsome and launched his coaching career, keeping him involved in the Michigan program as a student assistant and then as a graduate assistant. In 2022, Newsome was promoted to tight ends coach as the Wolverines won the national championship. Harbaugh left for the Chargers and the new Michigan head coach, Sherrone Moore, bumped Newsome up to offensive line coach. The Giants have not yet hired an offensive line coach, as John Harbaugh continues to make progress toward building his staff. Carmen Bricillo did strong work with the offensive line the past two seasons for the Giants butand reunited with Brian Daboll, who was hired as the Titans offensive coordinator.
