But he still needs an offensive coordinator — an enormous hire.Callahan was fired early last season after going 4-19 as the Titans’ head coach. Before that, he coordinated the Bengals’ offense from 2019-23.
Kingsbury was most recently the Commanders’ offensive coordinator, from 2024-25. He split with them after last season. From 2019-22, he was the Cardinals’ big whistle. Harbaugh wanted to bring Todd Monken with him from Baltimore, after Monken ran the Ravens’ offense from 2023-25. But Monken got the Browns’ head coaching job. In the wake of that development, Harbaugh targeted several high-end candidates this past week, including Callahan and Kingsbury.Even though Harbaugh doesn’t have an offensive coordinator, he has already filled several position coach spots on that side of the ball. The latest: Chad Hall will remain on staff, with a promotion to wide receivers coach. He was the assistant quarterbacks coach last season.Harbaugh did retain tight ends coach Tim Kelly and also hired Willie Taggart to coach running backs — the job he had under Harbaugh in Baltimore the past three seasons. So Harbaugh still needs to hire an offensive coordinator, plus someone to coach the quarterbacks and the offensive line.
