Jalin Hyatt ’s disappointing Giants career could be on the verge of a wild twist, courtesy of Robert Prince and John Harbaugh .former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Monken remains in the running to be Browns head coach, so Harbaugh has been interviewing other candidates.
By interviewing Prince and Willie Taggart, the Giants are compliant with the Rooney Rule and free to make a hire. Taggart is expected to join the Giants staff in some facet – likely as running backs coach – and the same could be true for Prince, who is a veteran receivers coach.A contentious discussion between Prince – who was the Cowboys’ receivers coach at the time – and Hyatt at Tennessee’s Pro Day in 2023 was captured on “Hey Rookie Welcome to the NFL.”“What’s that skill set?” Hyatt asked.Hyatt was the Biletnikoff Award winner at Tennessee, but surprisingly slipped to the third round of the draft as others clearly revealed similar concerns. After showing some promise as a rookie – mostly on vertical throws – Hyatt has just 13 catches for 97 yards over the last two seasons andA coaching change should represent the fresh start that Hyatt desperately needs, but Prince’s opinion is already known and apparently not that different from what his former coaches Brian Daboll, Mike Kafka and Mike Groh felt but kept quiet. Hiring Prince – who was the Dolphins’ receivers coach last season – would further the idea that Hyatt needs to salvage his career with another organization. But Hyatt took the high road when asked about the interaction as a rookie, calling Prince a “great coach” and saying he had “no hard feelings.”
