The Giants are heading to the NFL Combine this week. Who are 10 prospects to keep an eye on?
Southern California wide receiver Makai Lemon, left, scores a touchdown during the first half of an NCAA college football game against Oregon, Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, in Eugene, Ore. APare heading to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis this week to meet draft prospects and watch them undergo athletic testing and on-field drills.
Caleb Downs, S, Ohio StateDowns’ physical traits, including his 6-0, 205-pound frame, are inferior to those of Hamilton, who is 6-4, 218 pounds. But he has other elite traits that could make him one of the league’s best safeties as a rookie. He has outstanding instincts, triggers downhill with lightning-quickness, is an excellent open-field tackler and has tremendous range in coverage.A dominant slot receiver can be just as impactful as a star X or Z receiver, and Lemon could be an Amon-Ra St. Brown-level player from the inside. He could create a dynamic duo with Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers. Lemon has strong hands, making tough catches in traffic while absorbing big hits, and he is a crafty route runner who consistently gets open over the middle, especially against zone coverage. He is most dangerous after the catch, generating 502 yards in that area this past season. The USC standout finished the year with 79 total receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns.Delane doesn’t have elite physical traits at 6-0, 190 pounds, but he plays zone effectively while also showing man-coverage ability. He is an all-around playmaker, recording eight interceptions and forcing four fumbles during his collegiate career. He shuts down run plays and short passes with strong open-field tackling — and knifes around offensive lines on blitzes to create extra pressure and tip passes. If the Giants aren’t able to re-sign Jermaine Eluemunor, they will be in the market for a right tackle. Fano is extremely tall but also thin . He’s very athletic, beating rushers with good footwork, sliding to pick up stunts and pulling on run/pass plays to kick out edge rushers and defensive tackles. He could be a weapon in the run game.Mauigoa anchors well in pass protection and drives defenders off the ball in the run game; he’s got a mean streak teams will love. Generally considered a safe prospect, the 6-6, 315-pounder struggles against speed rushers who are quick and flexible. He could switch to guard if he struggles at tackle.Tyson could start opposite Nabers on the outside. His release package is so smooth that it turns cornerbacks the opposite way, and his explosiveness helps him win at every level of the field. Overall, the 6-2, 200-pound wide receiver has the ability of a No. 1 option.Tate could also make an incredible tandem with Nabers. He has great size , paired with unbelievable body control, reliable hands and vertical speed. This past season, he recorded a 40-plus-yard catch in six different games and averaged 17.2 yards per catch. The Giants will likely select Downs, a wide receiver or an offensive tackle with the fifth pick and then wait until Day 2 of the draft to select a cornerback. Abney could be a great option at pick No. 37. He’s vastly underrated. The 6-0, 190-pound cornerback thrives in zone, jumping routes to break up passes and snag interceptions, but he can also excel in man, using his physicality to knock wide receivers off their route. He’s very sticky in coverage, especially against NFL-caliber wide receivers. Last year, he performed well against Iowa State wideouts Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, both of whom were taken by the Texans on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft. They could target Bell, who has first-round talent, at the top of the second round. The main concern with Bell is injury-related: After undergoing ACL surgery in December, he may not be ready for the start of the 2026 NFL season. But if he can stay healthy, he could be a star in the league. Run Bell on a crossing route and watch him cruise past defensive backs for a big gain or a touchdown. That’s what the 6-2, 220-pound wide receiver does best. He has drawn comparisons to Eagles star A.J. Brown. The 6-6, 330-pound tackle has light and nimble feet, getting to the top side before rushers can bend the corner and reach the quarterback. His pass-protection skills are rare for someone who didn’t start playing football until college. He has room to grow as a run blocker — specifically needing to get stronger so he can play with more power — but his ceiling as a pass protector could make him a top-50 pick.Cayden Steele covers the Philadelphia Eagles and sports commerce for NJ Advance Media.
