George Santos was hit with a brutal context note on X, formerly Twitter, after he claimed an unspecified 'they' were not coming after him.The Republican congressman posted an image of himself on the social media platform with overlaying text that read: 'They're not after me. They're after you I'm just in the way.'He added no context to the post, so it is unclear who the 'they' were that he was referring to.
He allegedly falsely listed himself and relatives as the sources of the funds, when campaign deposits exceeded legal limits and made deposits to his personal account as well as companies associated with his campaign. Santos pleaded not guilty to the charges and has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
