Exclusive: How generative AI startup Treat scored $8.5 million in funding from Greylock to help companies create personalized product photos
, which they fine tune on their own collection of proprietary data, Osman said.
A number of other up-and-coming generative AI startups, like Flair AI, have emerged to tackle the issue of creating branded product photos quickly. However, Osman says that it's relatively easy for existing incumbents like Adobe to copy this image generation technology — the real competitive moat is the ability to integrate with customer data to generate truly personalized photos.
"Integrating with a brand's data is very difficult to do," Osman said."We also augment that with proprietary data that we've gone out and collected, and we have proprietary human feedback and people that are helping to train our model as well." With its new seed funding, Treat is planning to hire more machine learning, sales, and operations talent.
"There's a way of doing this that balances consumer privacy with the high level of service that you would get in the offline world," he said.Subscribe to push notifications
