GAUTIER, Miss. - A 26-year-old Gautier man was sentenced for two counts of exploitation of a child and one count of felony child endangerment . A judge sentenced David Pace to 80 years. 45 years will be served in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with the remainder on post-release supervision .
“Our office is steadfast in holding anyone who harms children accountable. No one who harms a child should ever doubt that we will pursue justice with every resource available,” said District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath. “Protecting the most vulnerable is not only our duty, it is our unwavering commitment.” The case began in May 2023, when a Texas investigator on an internet crimes against children’s task force befriended Pace in a chatroom. Officials said Pace shared images of young children, including one in Jackson County, being sexually abused. Since Pace lived in Gautier, the Gautier Police Department was contacted, and a local investigation began.“The victim’s family not only has to cope with the nightmare of their child being sexually assaulted but must also live knowing that the images may never be fully wiped from the darkest corners of the internet.
