Gas prices have fallen to a four-year low due to a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, reducing fears of a Middle East conflict disrupting global oil supplies. Oil prices have stabilized thanks to ample supply, declining demand, and reduced geopolitical risk.

Gas prices have dipped to a four-year low, driven by a recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel . This easing of tensions has calmed fears of a Middle East conflict disrupting global oil supplies. The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stood at $3.20 on Friday, mirroring oil prices that have returned to pre-tension levels, according to industry experts. Last Saturday's U.S.

airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites initially sent petroleum futures soaring on Sunday evening, pushing oil prices up to $78 a barrel. However, this spike quickly dissipated by Monday, as confirmed by AAA.The stability in oil prices is attributed to ample supply, particularly as OPEC+ continues to increase production. Demand for oil remains sluggish globally, supported by Lipow Oil Associates President Andy Lipow, who anticipates stable gas prices until and beyond the July 4th holiday, with a projected decrease of 3 to 5 cents over the next week. California, however, faces a slight price increase due to a slated rise in the state's excise tax on gasoline from 59.6 to 61.2 cents per gallon on July 1. The market sentiment has shifted significantly, with the perceived risk of closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz dramatically reduced. President Donald Trump's statement allowing China to purchase Iranian oil has minimized the likelihood of attacks on oil facilities in the region, as Iran had previously threatened to close the Strait in response to U.S. strikes. The Strait of Hormuz, connecting the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea, handles the world's largest crude oil tankers and is recognized as one of the most crucial oil chokepoints globally, transporting approximately 20 million barrels of oil per day, about 20% of global petroleum liquids consumption, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The limited alternative routes for transporting oil out of the strait if it were to be closed further amplify the potential impact on global oil prices. In the event of disruptions to oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, Lipow estimates that oil prices could surge to $100 a barrel, leading to a gasoline price jump of around 75 cents per gallon from current levels. Some projections even suggest oil prices could reach $120 to $130 per barrel, potentially causing a $1.25 per gallon increase in gasoline prices.Phillip Flynn, an energy market analyst and FOX Business contributor, credits the neutralization of Iran's nuclear program for significantly reducing geopolitical risk in oil prices, a factor reflected in current gas prices. Flynn also highlights the administration's pro-production policies, backed by Trump's signals towards more favorable regulations, and its realistic plans for oil production and accelerated refinery permitting, which he believes will lead to substantial long-term savings on gasoline prices. He concludes that these developments will be a significant win for consumers as inflation continues to moderate
