“There are no convictions of file in this office for this applicant.”
GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Garfield Heights man told 19 News he has never been convicted of a crime.
However, according to Summit County court records, the 24-year-old pleaded guilty to several crimes in 2021, including improperly handling a firearm.Dudley claims this is all a case of mistaken identity.“It‘s been hurtful because I’ve had so many job opportunities,” said Dudley. “I pass the drug test, but in the background check it comes up that I have something“
Court records show that three years ago, an 18-year-old also named Izaiah Dudley pleaded guilty to felony charges.Sometime in the court proceedings, the name and birthdate were changed to match those belonging to the Isaiah Dudley 19 News spoke with.In fact, at the time this played out in court, he was a student at John Adams here in Cleveland.
The Garfield Heights man believes this all could have started due to an ID he lost several years ago. ”I’m a nice person. I’m a respectful guy. I don’t carry guns. I don’t go out there and kill anybody. I don’t threaten anybody. I just stay to myself,” said Dudley. The office said it’s in the hands of the Clerk of Courts. 19 News is still waiting to hear back.People take to the streets of Cleveland in protest of President-Elect TrumpParma barber helps veterans impacted by Hurricane Helene
