The 2023/24 NBA season is upon us and who better to preview the action than the stars of the league? This season also features a new In-Season Tournament, which should provide fans with a new viewing experience.
Jon Johnson WICKSBURG – Both teams played their guts out in what was a brutally hard-hitting game, but when the dust cleared G.W. Long had held on for a 31-26 road win over Wicksburg on Friday night.G.W. Long quarterback Bryson Hughes came out with a hurt right leg with 2:25 to play in the game and didn’t return. Before he exited, the talented senior had ran for two touchdowns and thrown for two, along with making an interception from his defensive back slot on defense.
“He had surgery Tuesday …broke thumb,” Wicksburg coach Josh Cox said. “He’s a competitor. He’s probably our best running back and he throws it. I mean, he fights to the end.” “It puts us at home in the first round of the playoffs, so that is obviously a big deal,” Watts said. “Now the region we’re matched up with, I don’t know how much difference there is between any of them … they’re all really good … but at least we’ve got them at home.”
The Wicksburg defense came up big to force a three-and-out and the Panthers got the ball back with 33.4 seconds left after the punt by Daniel went out of the end zone. Wicksburg then had perhaps its most impressive drive of the night, going 91 yards in 16 plays to score when Burkhardt went on a 4-yard run. Tyler Munoz added the extra point kick to put Wicksburg up 7-6 with 2:35 left in the opening quarter.
