Colorado will experience a dramatic weather shift this weekend, with temperatures plummeting from the 50s to the teens and heavy snowfall expected.
Get ready for a wild weather swing, Coloradans! Thursday will be a beautiful day with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 50s under mostly sunny skies. This pleasant weather won't last long, though, as a major shift is on the horizon. Snow will start developing in the high country early Friday afternoon and spread to the plains by Friday evening. The first of two arctic cold fronts will slam into the state Friday night, bringing a dramatic temperature drop for the weekend.
\Snowfall will continue across the Front Range into early Saturday morning before gradually moving out Saturday afternoon. Saturday's high temperatures will be in the teens, and the cold will intensify on Sunday as a secondary arctic front barrels in. Some models predict temperatures that could be 30 to 40 degrees below normal, creating dangerously cold conditions across the region. \Another round of snow will hit the Front Range mountains, foothills, and metro area Sunday late afternoon into Monday morning. Between these two snowstorms, Denver could see 4 to 8 inches of fresh snow. This Arctic blast is expected to linger through Tuesday, with temperatures not rising above freezing until Wednesday afternoon. Remember to protect yourself, your pets, and your pipes during this extended deep freeze
