How former Troy Baseball Players have stay connected 13 years after they left the baseball diamond
) - We know that playing sports and being a part of a team establishes bonds that can last a lifetime but the friendship between these former Troy baseball players is extra special. They played under former head coach Bobby Pierce in 2012.
In 2012, Troy baseball lost 8-5 to Middle Tennessee in the Sunbelt championship. It was last time this group of guys would take the diamond as teammates, but according to former Troy first and third basemen Logan Pierce, they weren’t ready to part ways just yet. “I guess the ball has always been in my hand in a sense. That’s just my personality. That’s the role I played as a pitcher so yeah, I guess that’s where it comes from. And you know, I have to keep them in check every now and then.”
“They were talking about the weekends that work best for everybody, and obviously I couldn’t say anything at the time, and I said, well, we’ll just figure it out. Luckily, you know, Blair came a week early. My wife pretty much told me, “You’re not missing it”. “So, I said yes, ma’am and made it a point to be down here with them the weekend and make it 13 years in a row.”
Through all life’s biggest moments, every up, every down, they face all of it together, because this group of guys is just as much a team today as they were when they walked off the field that final time in 2012. “It touches my heart really at this stage in my life and my career to see a group that was connected through baseball, connected through our time at Troy together. The fact that they still get together, have fun with each other, know everything about each other’s lives, families, and kids. That’s what it’s all about. You know, at the end of the day, when the balls and the bats are put up, It’s about the group. It’s hard to even describe how meaningful that is for me.
