Troy got 5 2/3 solid innings from starting pitcher Garrett Gainous, who allowed three runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. The former Freshman All-American is just 13 months removed from arm surgery that cost him all of 2023. Seth Smith was intentionally walked to put runners on first and second, then Meade brought in Logan Ross. The left-hander pitched three innings in Troy’s tournament opener on Wednesday.
