It's been four years since the group began fighting to preserve a 60-acre farm bought by the township.

a historic white farmhouse across McCormick Road in December 2023, Eric Fairchild breathed a sigh of relief. A year earlier, the township was placing bids to demolish the house, built in 1855 and once owned by a Civil War soldier.

It’s about the only victory Fairchild, now an Upper Allen Township commissioner, said he has experienced in a fight to preserve over 60 acres of land along the scenic Yellow Breeches Creek. Most recently used as a horse farm, the property’s status was in limbo for years. Owned by an attorney in Philadelphia who had it up for sale for about ten years, the property is referred to by neighbors — who long feared a housing development would come in — as simply “the farm” or “McCormick farm.
