Freezing rain expected overnight could lead to up to 0.1 inches of ice accumulation, creating hazardous travel conditions across northern Ohio. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the region, urging residents to delay unnecessary travel.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Freezing rain could lead to a 10th of an inch of ice accumulating overnight, creating very hazardous travel conditions across much of northern Ohio.

Concerns about the ice have led the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for the region, including Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Portage and Trumbull counties. The Weather Service warns that ice could build up on roads, especially bridges and overpasses. Even walking could become hazardous because of slick conditions.

The freezing rain is expected to change to rain early Thursday morning but slick patches of ice could remain through mid-morning, forecasters say. Temperatures eventually will reach the mid-40s on Thursday and the rain should stop, leaving mostly cloudy skies.
