A single-engine plane crashed in Lavaca County, Texas, Tuesday morning, reportedly killing four.
The plane, a Piper PA-46-350P Malibu, crashed around 10:40 a.m., the Victoria Advocate reported. One person was hurt in the crash in addition to the four killed, said Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman.He added that the crash occurred as the plane was preparing to land.
"It was preparing to land at the Lavaca County Airport when it crashed into this open field," he said, adding that the one survivor was able to exit the plane. The person was promptly attended to by medical personnel and taken to Citizens Medical Center in Victoria and is in stable condition. Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon confirmed there were deaths and injuries in the crash but did not confirm the exact number.The National Transportation Security Board announced it was conducting an investigation into the crash.— NTSB Newsroom January 17, 2023 Reporter Tamara Diaz with the Victoria Advocate published video of the crash site, adding that emergency personnel had surrounded the area and weren't allowing the public in as the investigation progressed.
