Ryan Goughnour, a former athletic trainer at University School in Cleveland, Ohio, has been indicted on multiple sex charges by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury. The school has initiated support services for students and hired an independent reviewer to investigate the situation.

CLEVELAND , Ohio - Former University School athletic trainer Ryan Goughnour was indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on multiple sex charges , according to the school's Head of School, Patrick T. Gallagher. The indictment includes three counts of gross sexual imposition, two counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles , two counts of attempted pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, one count of kidnapping, and one count of possessing criminal tools.

In an email to the community, Gallagher stated that faculty have been leading sessions to support students and that consulting psychologists are available to everyone in the University School community. The school has also hired David DeVillers of Barnes & Thornburg LLP to conduct an independent review. This news comes amidst other recent high-profile cases in the region, including the fatal shooting of a Stow mother of five by a Summit County Sheriff's deputy in a murder-suicide and a woman receiving a life sentence for her role in a deadly Akron bar shooting. The Summit County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the escape of an inmate, following new details uncovered by 19 Investigates
