McClendon Curtis, who spent the past two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, has signed with the Arizona Cardinals after being waived at the end of the 2024 season.
The 2024 season for the Seattle Seahawks came to an end over a week ago, and the team wasted no time making changes, parting ways with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb the day after the season concluded. Then, on Monday morning, the contracts of practice squad players for teams that missed the playoffs expired, making free agents of the Seahawks' practice squad members who didn't sign a future contract with the team last week.
This newfound freedom led at least one former Seattle practice squad member to quickly find a new home. McClendon Curtis spent the past two seasons with the Seahawks after initially signing with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2023. However, he failed to secure a spot on the 53-man roster out of training camp. The Seahawks acquired Curtis from the Raiders' practice squad early in the 2023 season following injuries to Charles Cross and Abe Lucas. He spent the rest of the season on the active roster but didn't see any significant playing time, except for a few special teams snaps. During the 2024 summer training camp, reports indicated Curtis performing well at guard and competing for the right tackle position. Despite this, he was unable to maintain a spot on the 53-man roster and was waived at the end of training camp before signing with the practice squad. He received a promotion to the active roster for three weeks in late September but was waived again and spent the remainder of the season on the practice squad. Once again, Curtis didn't get any offensive snaps during the season, despite the injury issues and performance struggles at both right tackle and right guard throughout the year. Now, he is heading to Arizona to try his luck and potentially earn a spot on the 53-man roster of the Arizona Cardinals for the 2025 season.
