Nelson retired in the offseason after receiving little interest in opening free agency after playing with the Houston Texans last season.
After leaving Kansas City, Nelson signed with the Steelers. He spent 2019 and 2020 with the team before heading to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021. Nelson will start on the Chiefs' practice squad this time around and work his way up to the active roster. The 31-year-old cornerback has 456 tackles and 13 interceptions over his ten-year NFL career.
