Former Ohio State football players are serving as high school assistant coaches, passing on the lessons they learned during their playing days.
'Responsibility to give back to the community and the kids'
Taylor might be the youngster, but Lenny Mills is the unquestioned veteran. He went to high school in Miami before being a defensive back at Ohio State from 1976-79, playing for both Woody Hayes and Earle Bruce. “It doesn’t hurt having these guys sitting in meetings and coming to practice,” said Kennedy, whose team was 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCL before playing at Hartley on Oct. 21. “When you play at Ohio State, the expectation level is higher. Just having them on staff makes us a better staff.”“I don’t know if the kids fully realize what have achieved, but it’s incredible,” Wiggins said. “Think of what they have gotten to be a part of, and in Gary’s case, the NFL.
“ brings all the feelings that I have about football that I had in high school, only from a different perspective. I know how I was feeling when I was their age. I can help give them advice on how to carry themselves and how to approach certain situations.”defensive coordinator at Westland David Dell, a sophomore middle linebacker for Westland, believes Martin has helped him become a better player.
