Luke Lachey, son of Ohio State Buckeyes legend Jim Lachey, will play for the Iowa Hawkeyes at Ohio Stadium on Saturday.
“It’s a business trip, but it is a little bit more exciting to go home and play in Columbus,” he said. “I think it means a lot to my parents and to my whole family.”
Iowa’s offense is hardly cutting-edge. The Hawkeyes rank near the bottom nationally. But Iowa can make a case for being Tight End U. T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant were first-round NFL picks in 2019. All-Pro George Kittle was drafted two years earlier.Lachey has 17 catches for 290 yards in his young Iowa career as the team's No. 2 tight end. behind Sam LaPorta.Hockenson and Fant each scored two touchdowns against Ohio State in the Hawkeyes’ stunning 55-24 upset in 2017.
For Jim Lachey, Saturday will be a special day. He was able to watch Luke play four games last year, but his broadcasting duties haven’t allowed him to see Luke play this year.And if he gets to make the call of a touchdown by his son?
