Steven Vicario, 41, was found guilty earlier this week of two counts of rape, two counts of sexual battery, and one count of tampering with evidence.

Vicario was previously a full-time guard employee who worked at the Joint Force headquarters as a mobilization officer. He was also the commander of the 211th Maintenance Company for a three-year stretch from 2013-2016. The Ohio National Guard considered him AWOL after his arrest.Prosecutors said the victim was asleep when he came into her room. A bottle of lubricant was on the floor by her bed when the victim's mother came in.

“This is just the beginning for this survivor. Now that justice has been served, the healing can begin.” Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel said. “If you are a victim of sexual abuse, you are not alone. We stand ready to help with our law enforcement partners.” Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge James P. Schuck sentenced him to 25-30.5 years in prison and ordered that he be classified as a Tier III Sex Offender.
