Leeds United are considering handing a Championship lifeline to former Nottingham Forest midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté as Daniel Farke considers a free agent move
Leeds United could throw a Championship lifeline to Cheikhou Kouyaté, as the Elland Road outfit weigh up a move for the former Nottingham Forest midfielder amid their injury woes. The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported that Kouyaté, who has been without a club since his summer release by Forest, is on a shortlist of free agents under consideration by Leeds United boss Daniel Farke, following knee injuries to both Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev.
After making an impression with 22 appearances and netting his first goal against Bournemouth in August 2022, he found opportunities limited after Nuno Espirito Santo took the helm, appearing mainly as a substitute before his exit after a total of 36 matches. Kouyaté boasts an extensive pedigree with 92 caps for Senegal and 291 Premier League games under his belt, featuring stints at Crystal Palace and West Ham.
