Eric Wedge, former manager of the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners, has rejoined the baseball world as the manager of the Double-A Tulsa Drillers, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wedge brings ten years of MLB managerial experience to the Drillers, having previously guided the Indians to a division title and a World Series appearance in 2007.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Eric Wedge became the second ex-Cleveland skipper to climb back into the manager’s chair this offseason when he took over the Double-A Tulsa Drillers , an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers .Can Guardians’ bullpen repeat dominance despite big changes in 2025? Compiling a 774–846 record as manager of the Indians and Mariners, Wedge stepped away from Seattle after the 2013 season before returning to the dugout to coach his alma mater at Wichita State from 2019-22.
The Fort Wayne, Indiana native played parts of four seasons for Boston and Colorado before becoming an coach and minor league manager in the Cleveland system. In 1998 he made his minor league managerial debut for the Columbus Redstixx Single-A affiliate of the Indians. Drillers president Mike Melega released a statement saying the club is excited to bring in a leader with Wedge’s level of experience.
