The former Michigan football LG will be inducted into the College Footbakll HOF.
Michigan football legend Steve Hutchinson will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on December 10 in Las Vegas. Hutchinson, a member of the 1997 national championship team, played left guard for the Wolverines from 1997-2000.
Hutchinson arrived at Michigan as a defensive lineman but switched over to the offensive line during his redshirt season, and he would go on to become a unanimous First Team All-America selection in 2000. He started 45-of-47 career games, and the Wolverines compiled a 41-8 overall record and a 27-5 Big Ten mark during his four seasons as a starter.
Elected team captain as a senior and fifth-year senior, Hutchinson did not allow a sack during his final two seasons at Michigan. He was a two-time first-team All-American in '99 and 2000 and helped protect several prominent Michigan quarterback's blind sides. He played with Brian Griese, Tom Brady, and Drew Henson -- while playing under Hall of Fame coach Lloyd Carr.
Hutchinson went on to become a first-round NFL Draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2001. He played with the Seahawks from 2001-05, then with the Minnesota Vikings from 2006-11, and finished his career with the Tennessee Titans in 2012. He is also in the Pro Football Hall of Fame -- class of 2021.
