Ross Valory, founding bassist of rock band Journey, revealed he is no longer in contact with his former bandmates. While acknowledging the past disagreements, Valory prefers to focus on Journey's successful history and wishes the current members well.

“I haven’t been in touch with anybody except for maybe Steve Smith once in a while,” the bassist explained. “Everybody’s moved on with their lives.” Valory was there for the band’s inception in 1973 and was fired for the first time in 1985. He would rejoin the band in 1995 and was again fired along with Smith by former bandmates lead guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain.Despite the recent history, Valory preferred to look at the positive side of Journey’s long-storied history that continues to this day.
“My point is we should talk about what went right,” the bassist noted. “All those fabulous musicians that have come under that roof over the decades, the musicians that remain, the band that remains, with Arnel singing and Jonathan and Neal. They continue to this day. I wish them the best.” Journey was recently in the news due to fans criticizing lead singer Arnel Pineda’s vocals during the band’s recent performance at Brazil’s Rock in Rio festival.
