Goring, 73, remains a notable omission from the Hall, having been a part of one of the most impactful trades in league history.

Instead, Pierre Turgeon — an Islander from 1991-95 and the last player in franchise history to score over 50 goals in a season — was a surprise election to the Hall, getting in over the likes of Alexander Mogilny and Patrik Elias as well as Goring.

That team was amongst the most successful post-Dynasty Islanders outfits, upsetting the Mario-Lemieux-led Penguins in the second round of the playoffs while Turgeon was out injured before losing to the Canadiens in the conference finals when he came back to the lineup.Bringing him to Long Island required a massive deal with the Sabres, who drafted Turgeon in 1987.

Two seasons later, Turgeon was dealt to the Canadiens with Vladimir Malakhov in a deal that brought back Craig Darby, Kirk Muller and Mathieu Schneider — which helped prompt the franchise into its misery-inducing era of the late-90s.In addition to Montreal and Buffalo, Turgeon also had stints with the Blues, Stars and Avalanche.Turgeon made four All-Star teams in 1990, 1993, 1994 and 1996.

Intrinsic Nonlinear Planar Hall EffectWe propose an intrinsic nonlinear planar Hall effect, which is of band geometric origin, independent of scattering, and scales with the second order of electric field and first order of magnetic field. We show that this effect is less symmetry constrained compared with other nonlinear transport effects and is supported in a large class of nonmagnetic polar and chiral crystals. Its characteristic angular dependence provides an effective way to control the nonlinear output. Combined with first-principles calculations, we evaluate this effect in the Janus monolayer MoSSe and report experimentally measurable results. Our work reveals an intrinsic transport effect, which offers a new tool for material characterization and a new mechanism for nonlinear device application.
