Man Utd wanted to sign a second forward during the summer transfer window.

Former Portuguese international Paulo Futre has claimed that super agent Jorge Mendes touched base with Manchester United during the summer transfer window to discuss the possibility of signing Joao Felix.

However, it has been claimed by Futre, who had a short spell at West Ham United in the late 1990s, that Mendes made contact with United about the prospect of them signing Felix. The 23-year-old has often been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last few years. Though there is a general feeling that Felix is a player with enormous amounts of potential, he struggled to cut the mustard in England last season, scoring just four goals in 20 appearances at Chelsea. He has, however, scored three goals in his first five appearances for Barcelona this term, as well as chipping in with two assists.
