Pule Mabe, a former spokesperson for the African National Congress (ANC), has been arrested in 2024 on fraud and corruption charges. This follows an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) into Mabe's company, which received a government tender while he was a member of Parliament.

JOHANNESBURG - It's been a challenging 2024 for some senior African National Congress (ANC) leaders who've spent months in and out of the courts for fraud and corruption charges. Former ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe, is among those who were arrested in 2024 following graft allegations. This is in line with the ANC's step-aside rule, which mandates members criminally charged for corruption and wrongdoing to vacate their positions until they've been able to clear their names.

Despite Parliament’s code of ethics discouraging members from doing business with the state, Mabe’s company was awarded a R27 million tender in 2017 while he was a member of Parliament (MP). The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has since discovered Mabe’s company, EnviroMobi, failed to disclose its connection to the former ANC mouthpiece during its bidding process.'A renewed ANC requires us to position ourselves differently, to know that once charged or alleged of serious crimes, we must not make the life of the ANC difficult. What excites me and what I’ve said to my wife was that we have had this hanging over our heads for some time.' During the bail hearing, the politician claimed to be currently living in Randburg and said he earned a monthly income of R25,000. But just a month later, the SIU secured a preservation order on a piece of property in Steyn City – one of the city’s most luxurious gated communities – along with a Porsche 911, all said to belong to Mabe
