Fans are counting down the days to Mortal Kombat II. The sequel to 2021’s Simon McQuoid-directed R-rated feature has dished out quite an emotional trailer. It promises fans of unseen characters like Johnny Cage and an epic showdown with Shao Kahn .

So, fans of the defenders of the Earthrealm are gearing up for the upcoming fight. Audiences are always uncertain about video game adaptations, given that historically, the fandom has seen more underwhelming films than good ones. But with the advent of better technology, video game adaptations have improved significantly. Thankfully, the Mortal Kombat movie falls in the latter category and has wooed franchise fans worldwide, with game and film enthusiasts eagerly waiting for May to see the big screen adaptation. Meanwhile, HBO Max is giving fans more homework to do before the feature comes out. All Mortal Kombat Legends, the animated movies, are coming to the streaming service at the start of April, as per ComicBook. The animated franchise consisting of Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind, and Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, will drop on HBO Max for ease of viewing. This marks the best opportunity to revisit our favorite characters and plotlines. The audience has already seen the trailer and appreciated various fight sequences, character intros, and glimpses of the tournament. Mortal Kombat II stars returning cast members Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman , Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada. New faces include Urban, Adeline Rudolph, and Tati Gabrielle. While the plot details are scarce, game creator Ed Boon told Collider: “The previous Mortal Kombat movie was the first one that was rated R, so it is unabashed Mortal Kombat. Double that, and then you have this movie. It's pretty crazy. It absolutely lives up to what fans are going to be expecting, demanding of Mortal Kombat. We have the tournament, which is a big request from fans, and it will absolutely satisfy.” He further teased that the opening sequence “punches you in the face,” adding that “the rest of the movie just lives up to it.
