Nearly 3 million cars are affected, spanning the 2013 to 2021 model years, including 1.7 million Escape, 509,400 Edge, and 439,483 Fusion models.Ford is recalling more than 2.9 million vehicles to correct a problem with the automatic transmission. According towith the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration , a damaged or missing bushing inside the transmission may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the selected gear.
The affected models are the 2013–2019 Escape, 2013–2016 Fusion, 2015–2018 Edge, 2013–2018 C-Max, and 2013–2021 Transit Connect. Ford says the fix involves replacing the shift bushing and adding a protective cap over the shift cable bushing. Owners will be notified by letter on June 27 but can checkfor more information and to see if their vehicle is affected. Ford's recall number for this issue is 22S43.
