The Ford Mustang GTD has set a 6:57.685 lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It's the fastest American production car ever at the track, and the 5th fastest sports car.
Just three years after the concept was approved within the Blue Oval, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD has officially become the fastest American production car to ever lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Ford Performance, Multimatic, and driver Dirk Müller pushed the hardcore pony car around the 12.9-mile circuit in just 6 minutes and 57.685 seconds, making the latest supercharged Mustang the fifth-fastest car ever in the production sports car class to tackle the Green Hell.
But if we’re going to do a supercar that really takes the best of the things from racing, as in the things you can’t use in racing, and make it street-legal and just pure awesomeness, then we should do it in a global way. The Nürburgring is kind of a global standard, if you will, for performance vehicles. There wasn’t really a reason to do that in the past.
