Graham Tyler's spring 2021 collection took a gothic turn in response to current events.

So dire is the news of late that it sometimes feels as if we are living through a greatly extended witching hour. Certainly, current events are weighing heavily on many, including , an artist-designer based in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, whose spring 2021 collection took a gothic turn in response to current events.which provided the designer with both the figural graphic motifs he developed on tapestry jacquards and his theme. The cinematographers made use of “really interesting cinematic tricks so that people’s shadows were following them,” explains Tyler.
Tyler says his collection is political, but when asked, said he doesn’t believe fashion can change the world for the better. “I think fashion is a product, I think it’s a business, I think that it’s important,” he explains. “I think that fashion can make people have big platforms and I think people with the platforms that they gain through fashion can change the world. I don’t think something that is a business can do that directly, but I think that the people within it have the power to.
To showcase the collection, Tyler created and filmed a performance piece with his studio mate, the artist
