IPOH: Over 80 residents of Kampung Sahom here were forced to evacuate their homes after a flash flood hit their village near Kampar.
“A total of 10 houses were affected by the flash flood that happened after the heavy rain. The downpour led to the water level of Sungai Rias to rise and that inundated the bridges connecting the villagers,” he said.
He added that the firemen had to use ropes and floating devices to evacuate six villagers, including two children. “These villagers were connected by three bridges. To get to their houses, we had to cross these bridges. We also received reports that the water level had risen up to 7m high," he said. The spokesman added that all 84 victims were safely evacuated and were brought to a temporary shelter at SK Sahom.
