Flames tear through garage and vehicle, displacing 4 from Oceanside home [Breaking]
Four people were displaced Monday evening from an Oceanside home after a fire ripped through the home’s garage and a vehicle in the driveway, authorities said.
The blaze was reported about 6:15 p.m. on Willow Tree Court in a residential neighborhood off Foussat Road north of state Route 76, according to Oceanside fire Battalion Chief Tim Scott. Fire crews arrived within six minutes of the call to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and the vehicle parked outside of it, Scott said in a news release. Firefighters cleared the home, making sure nobody was inside, while other battled the flames with hoses.
Crews also cut holes in the roof of the garage to help ventilate the space, Scott said. Firefighters got the flames extinguished in about 25 minutes, but some crews remained at the scene another three hours for overhaul work.No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday night, Scott said. The local chapter of the American Red Cross responded to help the four displaced adults.
