The National Weather Service has now confirmed multiple tornadoes after Wednesday's slew of storms in many parts of Ohio . 1.) One of the hardest hit areas in the state was Bucyrus , where they saw some extensive damage caused by an EF1 tornado.
Strong winds, heavy rain and dangerous debris flew through the air on Wednesday. Lashoan Willis witnessed it all Thursday evening. An uprooted tree narrowly missed his home in Bucyrus. The violent storms ripped down power lines, leaving homes and businesses without power.Because the winds were pretty much blowing 40-50 miles an hour and by time I got an alert to my phone and then alerts started going off two or three different times," Willis said. "Between the wind and the rain, it was difficult to hear the sirens."We were already in the midst of going through it when the sirens went off. In some areas, it was already over with... It would've what I would've referred to it as a pop up -- the conditions were right, and it just happened. I can't blame anyone for it," Capt. Walker shared. Despite damage estimates in this community reaching more than a million dollars, Capt. Walker is stressing that people in this community remain hopeful and focused on recovery. Our community is a very tight knit community overall, and people are so giving and so caring," said Capt. Walker. "It's going to take a while but like I said, if everyone pulls together, we can get it done. Maybe a couple months, or it might take a year, but we'll get it done," said Willis.3.) The NWS also reports that another EF1 tornado touched down in Windham, in Portage County. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
